Princeton Pro-Life seeks to be a community of pro-life students at Princeton that educates themselves and others on issues relating to abortion, sparks thoughtful and respectful dialogue surrounding abortion on campus, serves and supports local women in unexpected pregnancies, and equips students to be bold, effective, and compassionate ambassadors for the pro-life cause.

… a community of pro-life students at Princeton
Many students come to Princeton thinking that they will have to hide their pro-life beliefs or that no one else will share their views. We want to dispel that fear by being open about our pro-life beliefs and welcoming anyone who shares them, regardless of their background or other beliefs (religious, political, etc.). We would like to create a real community of students who can rally behind the pro-life cause, learn together, and have fun along the way!

… educates themselves and others on issues relating to abortion
You might be surprised how many students who say they’re pro-life would not be able to explain the difference between the abortion pill and a surgical abortion. Others might know some of the common “pro-life arguments” but don’t have experience actually talking to people who disagree with them. Regardless of previous knowledge or background, many are absolutely terrified to talk about their pro-life beliefs. We want to continually educate ourselves and those who disagree with us on the important facts surrounding the abortion issue so that we can better understand for ourselves and also be better representatives of the pro-life movement.

… sparks thoughtful and respectful dialogue surrounding abortion on campus
We are grateful that Princeton continues to champion academic freedom and intellectual discourse more than its peer institutions. That being said, there is a notable lack of dialogue surrounding abortion on campus (especially among students), and when there is discussion it is sometimes disrespectful and uneducated (on both sides!). PPL strives to spark thoughtful and respectful dialogue surrounding abortion on campus, which is often the first step of changing hearts and minds on abortion.

… serves and supports local women in unexpected pregnancies
As pro-lifers, we ought to care about the vulnerable and needy both in and outside the womb. We need to demonstrate that we believe in the value of unborn life by supporting programs and providing resources for women to be able to choose life for their babies AND care for them once they are born. This also includes supporting pregnant and parenting students at Princeton as well.

… equips students to be bold, compassionate, and effective leaders of the pro-life cause
The pro-life movement has many great representatives and leaders, but it also has some obnoxious ones that ultimately hurt the reputation and image of pro-lifers in the USA. PPL hopes to equip students to be bold (not ashamed of our position, but educated, thoughtful, and confident), effective (brainstorming creative ways to change hearts and minds on abortion), and compassionate (conducting themselves with respect and care towards those in need and towards their intellectual opponents) representatives of the pro-life movement. It is important for PPL to have a public presence on campus so that people know we exist (so they can join us or at least so they know that some reasonable Princeton students really are pro-life).
The target audience(s) of PPL are:
- Students who think they are pro-life but don’t know why
- Students who are pro-life but don’t feel comfortable talking about it
- Students who are pro-choice but want to understand the pro-life position
- Students who don’t know what to think about abortion
